About the event
Please join us as we celebrate the Juneteenth Legacy by screening Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune's documentary and installation in the US Capital. Dr. Bethune was born in 1875 ten years after Juneteenth. On July 13, 2022, a marble statue created by artist and master sculptor, Nilda Comas, was installed in Statuary Hall establishing Dr. Bethune as the first Black American to represent a state in the National Statuary Hall Collection.
